Why two separate logins?
Most South African index tracker and unit trust products are registered as Collective Investment Schemes (CIS) which are regulated by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA). The key difference between these products is that most index tracker products are listed as shares on a stock exchange and when purchased, are bought in whole units. (You cannot purchase less than a single share) In contrast, unit trusts are typically unlisted pooled instruments which are unitised, meaning you can purchase a fraction of a unit as opposed to whole units. Because of this, different administrative and reporting systems are used necessitating two separate logins. Itransact is working on a single sign solution that will negate this inconvenience.
